With
the guiding principle of all-round development, Vruksha
lays equal emphasis on, out of
classroom activities.
The children are exposed to life around them in a practical manner,
so that they are not limited to theoretical and ‘bookish’ knowledge.
Our approach stimulates the minds of children that will help them to
think and act independently.
Keeping in line with our approach several class trips, house visits,
practical demonstrations and other out of the classroom activities
are organized on a regular basis.
House visits are organized to various classmates’ houses to develop
social skills. These visits help to nurture concepts of social
etiquette like how to behave, share and care for each other while
having friends over or visiting their peers.
Extra
– Curricular Activities
Extra-curricular activities form an important part of education at
Vruksha. For example we have introduced “Oyillatam” one of the folk
art forms of TamilNadu. Oyillatam is prevalent in the southern
districts of Tamil Nadu like Madurai, Ramanathapuram and Tirunelveli.
This is a very beautiful and a graceful dance. The name is derived
from the word ‘Oyuil’ which is graceful in Tamil language. This
dance is performed at temple festivities and the songs revolve
around the storyline of the epic Ramayana.
Parenting workshops
Vruksha believes in building strong relationships with their
children and their families. Keeping in mind the needs of the
parents, Vruksha organizes workshops for parents on a quarterly
basis. Vruksha organized a workshop recently on “Understanding the
needs of your child” by Mrs Uma Shankar and Mrs Kesang Menezes. This
was an interactive session in which parents contributed some
valuable insights on the needs of the child.
We have an orientation programme for our new parents. This
interactive session, helps the parents to have a better
understanding of the Montessori system and its benefits.
